Larvikite – (Root & Third Eye Chakra) – (Zodiac of Aquarius)
This is a stone that has fascinated me for quite some time and it is one of my favorite to wire wrap in silver. There is something cool and soothing about this stone that also feels safe and protective. It took me quite a long time to find a source of rough for tumbling, because it is prized in the couter-top granite industry and so mine sell it to the large granite companies rather than rough rock sellers. The Science of Larvikite
Larvikite is a close cousin of Labradorite and is often called “Black Labradorite,” “Black Moonstone,” or “Norwegian Moonstone.” But Larvikite is neither. It is actually a granite that also has a similar “labradorescent” effect in the light. It is mined in Norway and is sold under the Trade Name “Blue Pearl Granite.”
