Blue Aventurine is one of the many colors available in the Aventurine family. Green Aventurine is the most well known for Heart Healing. Blue Aventurine is one of the most comforting stones I have ever held. It has a power that reminds me that I am capable of SO MUCH in this life. The Science of Blue Aventurine

Aventurine is a quartz with mica inclusions that provide the color and some sparkle. Depending on the type of inclusion, this stone can come in many different colors: blue, peach, yellow and more.  The inclusions that give this Aventurine its blue color is Dumortierite, so Blue Aventurine is often sold AS Dumortierite, but it is a combination of quartz, mica and trace Dumortierite. Blue Quartz and Blue Aventurine look very similar so it can be difficult to tell them apart, but Aventurine should have either some sparkle, or streaks of white mica visible to the eye.

Historical Significance of Blue Aventurine

In Ancient Greece, the stone was sewn into the clothes of warriors to inspire courage.  In shamanic cultures, this stone was used in medicine wheel rituals to connect with the loving energy of the spirit guides and gods.

Jade is a gemstone that I grew up familiar with, because it was available in so many forms – jewelry, statues, boxes, and carved trinkets. I seemed to see it everywhere! There is something about this cool green gemstone that seems so regal and uplifting. I tend to work with Jade if I am feeling adrift and am looking for guidance and direction. The Science of Jade

Jade is one of the toughest and most durable gemstones in existence. It can take a heaving pounding without breaking. It comes in two primary varieties: Nephrite and Jadeite. The most prized Jade (Jadeite) comes from Myanmar. Jade can be found in a variety of colors (white, lavender, blue, orange, and more), but the most common color is green. Be aware that some retailers dye white quartz various colors and pass it off as Jade – look for authenticity or a reliable seller.

Jade is one of the most revered gemstones throughout history. It was widely sought out in China as early as 5000 B.C. and considered a gemstone that would bring good luck. Statues, charms, and coins were carved from Jade to attract prosperity and money. It was used by the Egyptians and Mayans as a symbol of love and to stimulate desire. Because of its extreme toughness and durability it was often used to make weapons, tools, and dishes.

Jade is also well know for attracting prosperity, abundance and good luck. This luck does not “fall in ones lap,” Jade shows us the direction and encourages motivation to work to make the dreams a reality. Through the dreaming process (or meditating with Jade) it helps in realizing our True Purpose. It enables one to have bright dreams of the future and is a stone of visionaries. This gem helps one intuitively know how best to start making those dreams a reality. It releases any psychological barriers and doubts that can stop someone from pursuing something new or risky, and Jade stimulates ambition and drive to create and fulfill one’s goals.

Citrine is part of the Quartz family. It gets the yellow color from iron in the stone. The name comes from the Latin word Citrus, in relations to the color of lemons. It is one of the few yellow colored stones – Topaz being another.

Aventurine was one of the very first stones I started working with when I started jewelry making.  It’s a beautiful green, and stones are readily available and affordable. There is something warm, nurturing and natural about this particular shade of green and it reminds me of being outside taking walks in the park. Green is the most common color (and all the different colors have different metaphysical qualities, so I’ll post about them individually).  If a stone is labeled “Green Quartz” or “Blue Quartz” – it is likely Aventurine.
