Strawberry Quartz – (Heart Chakra) – (Zodiac of Aries)

One of the gemstones that I hold very dear is Strawberry Quartz. It has an energy unlike any other. It is a sister stone to Rose Quartz and also heals Heart Chakra issues, but Strawberry Quartz is much lighter, uplifting and joyous! Whenever I feel the need to embrace more joy and celebration into my life, I sit with my Strawberry Quartz gemstone. The Science of Strawberry Quartz

There are two varieties of pink quartz – Rose Quartz and Strawberry Quartz, but how are they different, and how to tell them apart? Rose Quartz is a light shade of pink and is more translucent. It is colored pink because of inclusions of a pink variety of Dumortierite. Strawberry Quartz is a much darker shade of pink, more opaque, and gets its color from iron oxide inclusions.

**NOTE** This should not be confused with “Cherry Quartz” which is actually a man-made glass product.

Strawberry Quartz is primarily a Stone of Joy. It enables us to see the happy, beautiful and pleasant aspects of Life. It increases optimism and positive thinking. If your daily life is feeling stagnant and dull, then this stone helps you recognize the simple pleasures that used to make you happy. Rhodochrosite is a beautiful, pink banded stone that is fairly rare now. Good specimens have stunning patterns in various shades of pink. It is highly sought after, so expect to pay a little more for Rhodochrosite jewelry than other more available stones. The Science of Rhodochrosite

This gemstone is a manganese carbonate. The mineral siderite gives it the pink color. Much like Malachite, Rhodochrosite is created one layer at a time. In Argentina, the Rhodocrhosite formed as stalactites in the abandoned Incan silver mines. The balance of components in the stone determine the shade of pink in each layer. Even more rare specimen can be very gemmy and translucent making it faceted gemstone quality. These will be highly expensive. It has only been considered a popular stone for jewelry since about 1940. before, this was found in silver mines and discarded.

Historical Significance of Rhodochrosite

The name comes from the Greek word ‘rhodochrosis’ meaning – pink colored. This gemstone is found in the United States as well, and the Native Americans used to use this stone as a symbol of love. The Incan culture used to call this stone the “Inca Rose.”

Rhodochrosite is a stone of pure open-hearted love for oneself and all others. It is ultimate stone of compassion and unconditional love. This gemstone helps to develop and deepen relationships and see the best in people. It may help to attract soul mates, but it may not be a “forever soul mate” as it brings forth people meant to teach us valuable lessons.

The Rhodochrosite spiritual properties are best known for its ability to help develop self-love and reduce self-criticism. It encourages us to love and accept ourselves as we are. Of course we want to grow, develop, and become our Highest Self, but this stone reminds us that our “work in progress” self is not flawed or insufficient in any way. We are exactly who we are meant to be at this moment.

This loving stone helps to a person to heal from trauma, particularly sexual abuse. It helps one to process and recover from emotional wounds without self-blame. This is a stone of the truth and will force us to look at anything we are repressing in life. Rhodochrosite is an excellent stone to wear in therapy as it helps you to truly examine your issues in an open-hearted, loving manner. This stone helps us move forward to our Highest Good, but it requires that we acknowledge and process that which is holding us back.

Rhodochrosite spiritual properties also ease stress and encourages a positive attitude. It helps to bring more balance to life by balancing emotion, energy, and masculine/feminine aspects. When we are in recovery, this gemstone helps us to see the light and brings hope

Unakite is one of my favorite stones because I love the color combination of green and pink. The mossy green and warm pink provide me with a sense of comfort from the Earth. I also used this stone to make a mala for the birth of my two children. As I held it I felt supported by the natural process of birth and rebirth in the Universe. As it includes both colors of the Heart Chakra, it is a wonderful, but gentle, heart opening stone. The Science of Unakite

This stone is a combination of Feldspar (pink), Epidote (green) and Quartz (white). It is an accessible stone with a really reasonable price range, but not all that commonly used in crystal practices.

Unakite is a stone of the Heart Chakra. It helps us to balance emotions with our spirituality. This helps to increase and expand compassion for ourselves and others. Rhodonite, like Rhodochrosite, is a manganese mineral which causes the pink color in both gemstones. The black streaks in the gemstone are inclusions of manganese oxide.

Rose Quartz has long been associated with Love.  It was supposedly imbued with the warm, pink color by Eros, God of Love, to inspire love and attraction between people.

This stone is by far the strongest Heart Healer in the crystal world.  The rose quartz spiritual properties are immediate, powerful and can tackle even the earliest traumas. Rose quartz is a stone to wear on you if you are working through break-ups and divorce, when you need some relief from heart break.  It also helps us to work toward forgiveness. It increases love and compassion for all, so if someone has harmed you and you have been having trouble letting go, this stone will encourage healing and forgiveness.

As mentioned, rose quartz can assist with healing childhood traumas and broken relationships.  If you grew up in a home that didn’t foster love and you feel inhibited now – this stone can help release those barriers around the heart.  Take care with using rose quartz as it will initiate the processing of old wounds and cause a release of the pain and suffering you’ve been holding onto.  Don’t hold back!  Releasing the pain and emotion helps you learn from it and let it go. Be prepared to have a support system available when doing deep meditations and healing with rose quartz. Have a friend standing by, or your favorite blanket and soothing music to help ease you back into the world after an emotional release.

Rose quartz is an amazing crystal to encourage self-compassion.  We are often very hard on ourselves; self-critical, unloving, unforgiving, and blaming.  Holding rose quartz, closing your eyes, and breathing deeply will allow our critical feelings about ourselves to soften and release. You are beautiful, you are loving, you are perfect just as you are.  This is the love letter from rose quartz to our souls.

Rose quartz helps us to forgive and love; therefore, inviting peace, soothing and tranquility into our lives.  This helps to reduce stress and tension.  Rose quartz is also said to protect against radiation and improve circulation (which makes this a wonderful crystal during a detox).
