Petrified Wood didn’t start out as a stone, but slowly transformed over time into a fossil. When wood is quickly buried and remains for thousands of years, the plant matter is slowly saturated with silica which transform the cells into quartz, agate, or chalcedony. This process creates a perfect replica of the original piece of wood (rings, wood grain, and knots). When looking at petrified wood, you can clearly see its origins as a tree.

This stone is a combination of Feldspar (pink), Epidote (green) and Quartz (white). It is an accessible stone with a really reasonable price range, but not all that commonly used in crystal practices.

This crystal is by far the one I use the most. It combines powerfully with every other stones and is a magnificent amplifier for Reiki healing. I also add one bead of Clear Quartz to all of my healing gemstone bracelets to boost the effects of the primary stone. I have multiple pieces (tumbled, rough, wands, etc.) and some is always within reach! Quartz includes a very large family of gems. In fact, it is the most common mineral on Earth! For this reason it has been called “the Grandfather of all Gems.” Although this article is about the Clear variety, quartz also includes Amethyst, Citrine, Rose, Smoky, Snow, Agate, Chalcedony, Aventurine, and many, many more. Quartz is used in watches and radios because it can produce electromagnetic energy when under physical pressure (piezoelectricity).
