Petrified Wood didn’t start out as a stone, but slowly transformed over time into a fossil. When wood is quickly buried and remains for thousands of years, the plant matter is slowly saturated with silica which transform the cells into quartz, agate, or chalcedony. This process creates a perfect replica of the original piece of wood (rings, wood grain, and knots). When looking at petrified wood, you can clearly see its origins as a tree.

A tektite is formed when a meteor strikes the Earth and melts with the elements at the location. Each location’s tektite is unique due to the minerals and plant matter that was in the Earth at the time of the impact. Most Tektites are black or dark brown in appearance, but there are green (Moldative) and golden (Libyan) varieties as well. Rough Tektite is distinctive in appearance as it is mottled and contains internal bubbles. Tektite is general is readily available and affordable (except for Moldavite and Libyan tektites).

Quartz is well known for being able to amplify, store, and direct the flow of energy. The amplification aspect is extremely useful. It can amplify our intentions, so using Clear Quartz during intention setting rituals, moon phase ceremonies, and while creating vision boards will give extra power for those intentions to grow and manifest. It helps clear distractions during meditation, so one can listen deeper and open the Crown Chakra up to receive information from our guides, angels, Higher Self and the Universe. If you are trying to expand your psychic abilities, include Clear Quartz in your practices to relax your energy, dissolve energetic or emotional barriers, and be more receptive to the messages.

Finally, this crystal records the energy it comes in contact with and it can be released or “read” at a later time. It helps to form a conduit to our past lives to help with karmic and soul healing as it holds a memory of “all that was.” This gemstone can be charged with an energy or intention to be used later on. The Science of Moonstone

Moonstone is an orthoclase gem that has phenomenal flash.  The orthoclase is layered with feldspar, and the refraction of light between those layers is what causes the shimmery glow (called adularescence).  Moonstone is available in a variety of colors: off-white, beige, peach, grey, blue and rainbow.

Historical Significance of Moonstone

Originally called selenitis because it was associated with the Greek moon goddess, Selene. It also had the name adularia due to its discovery near Mt. Adular in Switzerland.  In Arab countries it was used for fertility and to ensure large families. In Hindu belief, the moonstone was solidified pieces of actual moon beams.  It was a birth stone for those born on Moon’s Day (Monday). It has long been associated with magic and rituals that depended on the phases of the moon.

It allows us to think before we react.  This stone helps us to recognize new beginnings.
