Mookaite – (Root, Sacral & Solar Plexus Chakra) – (Zodiac of Leo)

This is a gemstone that instantly fascinated me. First, it’s found in Australia, and the cabochons created from this stone can display beautiful patterns of these Earthy and Firey colors. It was more expensive and difficult to obtain when I first learned of it, but I’m very glad that it has become much easier and affordable to purchase. The Science of Mookaite

This is a stone that is formed exclusively in Australia. It is often grouped in the Jasper family, but it is not a Jasper. It is a porcellanite. It comes in a mix of red, yellow, white and grey. The colors are formed due to the iron oxide/hydroxide in the soil where it is collected.

Historical Significance of Mookaite

This is a rather new addition to the gemstone market. It started appearing in about 2010 and has become quite popular since then. It is names after Mooka Station, in Western Australia, where it was originally discovered.

This is a stone I associate with The Fool and The Chariot in the Tarot. Both of these cards speak to moving forward on your Path. This is a gemstone that is extremely supportive during new beginnings and adventures. Mookaite allows us to envision the array of possibilities and instinctually know the best path for our Highest Good. It helps us move forward with confidence and instills a sense of calm during this change. This stone encourages flexibility, versatility, and risk taking. It supports taking the necessary actions to move in your chosen direction.

Mookaite is a stone of the Earth and Nature. It enables you to find support and energy through direct connection to the earth. If you go outside with a piece of Mookaite, it will allow you to feel the energy around you that is alive and infinite. You can channel that energy to help you feel more confident, invigorated, and safe. This stone also helps you to connect and communicate with ancestor spirits, nature spirits, and animal guides.

Mookaite spiritual properties also enable us to see the benefit and Wisdom of aging. It is said to slow the aging process, but also allows us to accept aging with grace and confidence.

This is a gemstone I use if I’m having trouble focusing during meditation. It is mildly grounding, but also uplifting, so it helps me release thought and just be. I find it very soothing to hold and tend to meditate with it when my mood is dark and I feel like releasing those heavy feelings. The Science of Smoky Quartz

Smoky Quartz is a sibling to Citrine, Amethyst, and the rest of the Quartz family. This is a dark, but translucent, gemstone, so it has many of the properties of Onyx or Obsidian, but much gentler. The smoky color is caused, not by another mineral as is common, but by gamma rays. Smoky quartz can range from very light grey to fairly dark (as in the picture above).

Historical Significance of Smoky Quartz

This stone was used often as a talisman, and the belief was that the stone would turn darker in the presence of danger. Smoky Quartz was also a stone used for mourning and times of grieving.

Smoky Quartz is one of the black stones that are always known for grounding and balancing the Root Chakra. This quartz has a much gentler effect than the pure black stones, so if you are in need of finding your center without feeling weighed down, this is a an excellent choice. Smoky Quartz provides grounding, centering, and a sense of stability. It is excellent for use in meditation is you are finding it hard to focus. It enables you to clear your mind easier, provide that connection to the Earth, while still allowing you to open up to Higher Awareness.

This gemstone is like a gentle, but firm security blanket. It helps to reduce fear, stress, anxiety and depression. Smoky Quartz supports us through all of the difficult emotions. It is a wonderful stone for mourning and grieving. It keeps us grounded as we process our emotions about the loss. This stone also helps to release fear of failure.

Finally, Smoky Quartz is amazing at transmuting negativity into positivity. It allows you to leave behind anything that no longer serves you. If you’re feeling down, frustrated, or spend alot of time in a toxic environment, this gemstone will help to protect you from negative influences and shine a light of hope for you.

Kambaba Jasper is sometimes known as Crocodile Jasper because of its green, scaly look. There is ongoing debate about whether this stone is in the Jasper family, or is a Stromatolite. Stromatolites are fossil rocks, and a strong theory is that Kambaba Jasper is a form of fossilized blue green algae.

Tourmaline itself can be found in every color of the spectrum! The black variety is called Schorl and is the most readily available of all the Tourmalines. Unlike the other Tourmalines, Black is not transparent – it is a strong, solid black. It can be available tumbled and smooth, or as long, striated crystals (as pictured above).

This is one of my very favorite new stones.  I learned about it in 2010 and have absolutely adored it ever since.  Purple is my favorite color and this stone has multiple shades! This stone plays with swirls of color, flash and black.  Each piece is different and emits a wonderfully uplifting energy. The Science of Charoite

Charoite comes from only one location, Murun Mountain in Yakutia, Russia. It is a very distinct looking stone with swirls of varying shades of purple and occasionally touched with black. There is sometimes some “flash” or chatoyancy in the stone. It is unmistakable and quite beautiful.

Historical Significance of Charoite

This is a fairly recently discovered stone.  It was initially discovered on the 1940s, but didn’t come to market until the late 1970s.  It has only really become popular as a jeweler’s gem within the last ten years. Geologist’s fear that the exclusivity of its mining location, combined with its new popularity, may soon diminish the supply.

Charoite is most helpful during times of massive change. Hematite has been associated most often with the blood. “The name hematite is from the Greek word ‘haimatitis’ which means ‘blood-red.'” That seems strange, right?
