This stone looks much like Amethyst, but has additional inclusions that expand and support the Spiritual awakening properties. Science of Super Seven

Super Seven is also known as Melody Stone or Amethyst Cacoxenite. This gemstones is mined in Espirito do Santos, Brazil. It gets it’s name because specimen can contain a combination of up to 7 different minerals! These can include Amethyst, Cacoxenite, Goethite, Clear Quartz, Lepidocrocite, Rutile & Smokey Quartz. This easiest way to identify Super Seven is to look for the “needles” of Cacoxenite with the purple Amethyst within the stone. It is very similar to Auralite-23 but has fewer mineral inclusions within the Amethyst and is mined in a different location.

Stichtite is a gorgeous pink / lilac colored stone that was discovered in Tasmania, Australia. It can be found elsewhere in the world, but is primarily mined in Dundas, Australia. It is also found in deposits with Serpentine, and the combined specimen are known as “Atlantisite” (aka Stichtite in Serpentine). It was named after Robert Sticht, the director of a mining corporation at the time of discovery.

This is a lovely stone to observe in the sunlight as it changes color depending on how the light strikes it. This attribute is known as Pleochroism. Some specimen have a shimmery quality known as Aventurescence.

As a teenager I lived in Cairo, Egypt, for a few years and became really familiar with Lapis (and Alexandrite, too). I would see it for sale everywhere, as carved statues, inlay, and jewelry. It was one of the first gemstones that really struck me with it’s utter brilliance. Such a rich blue with gold-like specks was a stone I absolutely envisioned for Egyptian royalty. Luckily, this is a fairly accessible stone with a reasonable price range, so we can all enjoy Lapis Lazuli now. The Science of Lapis Lazuli

Lapis Lazuli is primarily composed of a mineral called Lazurite. The Lazurite is combined with a mix of various other minerals, (the “gold” flecks are Pyrite) and the balance of certain minerals does affect the value of a particular stone. There are specimen with more white Calcite mixed in that is less valuable than the deep blue examples with lots of Pyrite. This stone is very sensitive to heat and chemicals, so don’t use a chemical metal cleaner near it, or expose it to hot, soapy water while house cleaning.

Lapis is a gemstone that has been revered for ages! Reports of Lapis date back to 5000BC. The name comes from a combination of words – Arabic azul for “sky,” and Latin lapis for “stone.” As it is the color of the sky, people thought they could connect to the Heavens and channel the power of Gods by using Lapis. Leaders all over the world included Lapis Lazuli in worship objects, royal decoration, and in burial tombs and crypts. Ancient Buddhists meditated with Lapis to repel evil thoughts. In the Middle Ages, Lapis was ground down to create the color pigment ‘ultramarine.’

Lapis is a true stone of awakening and awareness. It helps us to access and focus understanding, wisdom, and intuition. Primarily, it facilitates confronting your own truth and accepting it for what it is. If you are denying and repressing something in your life, Lapis will pull it forth for you to see. This is one of my very favorite new stones.  I learned about it in 2010 and have absolutely adored it ever since.  Purple is my favorite color and this stone has multiple shades! This stone plays with swirls of color, flash and black.  Each piece is different and emits a wonderfully uplifting energy. The Science of Charoite

Charoite comes from only one location, Murun Mountain in Yakutia, Russia. It is a very distinct looking stone with swirls of varying shades of purple and occasionally touched with black. There is sometimes some “flash” or chatoyancy in the stone. It is unmistakable and quite beautiful.

Historical Significance of Charoite

This is a fairly recently discovered stone.  It was initially discovered on the 1940s, but didn’t come to market until the late 1970s.  It has only really become popular as a jeweler’s gem within the last ten years. Geologist’s fear that the exclusivity of its mining location, combined with its new popularity, may soon diminish the supply.

Charoite is most helpful during times of massive change. It helps us to stop, look at a situation as it is, and accept the present moment just as it is. “It is the soul stone that overcomes fear.” It helps us to release overwhelming fear, reduce stress, and enter into a relaxed state.  Often when we are under great stress, we move, move, fix, fix, to try to get rid of the stress, and our actions in this state can aggravate the situation.
